2016 Advocacy Awards and Conference Recap
The 2016 First3Years Advocacy Awards and Conference was held May 6, 2016, at the University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs in Austin.
With a goal of presenting relevant research to practitioners, this biennial conference gathers professionals from all corners of the family social service field. This year’s conference theme, Driving Texas Families Forward, brought out more than 85 attendees. Speakers included Dr. Joshua Sparrow of the Brazelton Touchpoints Center, Dr. Cynthia Osborne of the Center for Health and Social Policy at the University of Texas at Austin, and Jason Sabo of Frontera 501.
In the spirit of honoring extraordinary advocates and champions of Texas’ youngest and most vulnerable, Infant Mental Health Awards were presented to Dr. Pauline Filipek (2016 T. Berry Brazelton Infant Mental Health Award) and the late Mary Greene (Lifetime Advocate Award). Read more about Dr. Filipek and Mary Greene.
Thank you to all who attended! Your active and continued support means so much to us and will support our work advancing social and emotional development for Texas infants and toddlers.
