Additionally, each event provides a meal (lunch or breakfast) offering a time of networking in each community as we gather to advance our professional practice and understanding in the field.

Sponge Bob and Sesame Street: A discussion on children’s
Join us on May 25th for an important discussion with Dr. Jackie Nelson about Screen Time and Young Children.
In this session, we’ll discuss current screen time recommendations for children, content analyses of television programming, and empirical developmental research with goals of understanding (1) how television viewing affects children – the good, the (neutral), and the ugly, (2) what role parents have in children’s viewing, and (3) how parents’ screen use affects children.
Speaker: Dr. Jackie Nelson
Dr. Jackie Nelson is an Associate Professor of Psychological Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas. Her research examines family stress, parent-child conflict interactions and relationship quality, and children’s social-emotional development. Dr. Nelson earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Elon University and her master’s and doctoral degrees in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
